Oh yes, Christmas will soon be upon us and I love sharing what you can get your kids as gifts because a kid can dream can’t they. We’ve already made up our Christmas lists here at our house because their aunties have asked for them so my kids are getting excited about Christmas but these gift ideas would go for birthdays as well.
We have a lot of January birthdays in our home, it’s kind of crazy.
My 7 year old has a very targeted list of items so I’ve turned them into a gift guide just in case anyone else needs any more ideas. My son loves science so you’ll see some educational items in there but fun as well.
Lego Sets
Although my boys love their themed set, they still love creating things from scratch with their Legos so it’s hard to do that with the sets since they all go together. This year, I’m looking at grabbing a huge box of Legos but they have to have the wheels. My kids love building cars with them and racing them down ramps together, so fun.

Favorite Book Sets
We love reading here and I’ve read through all of the Roald Dahl books with my older son and I’m looking forward to reading them with my younger son. I know he’s going to enjoy them because who doesn’t love Roald Dahl, he’s hilarious.
My son still loves dinosaurs and anything about poop or disgusting things so these books have been a huge hit in our house. I love hearing weird facts that they’ve discovered. You never know what will come out of their mouth next.
The Magic Tree House books are another one of my son’s favorite books and they’re at a wonderful reading level for him now that he can enjoy them on his own and he loves that he doesn’t need my help reading thFor you dinosaur lovers, the fossil excavation set is an activity any young paleontologist should try. They take a lot of hard work to retrieve the fossil and the kids get a great sense of how hard it must be to excavate real fossils out of solid rock.

The ant farm is a great way to study ants in a habitat that allows them to live naturally. My kids always observe for a bit but then feel bad and let them go. It’s hard to get ants here during our long cold season so we don’t do it often but when we do my kids love it, they’re such bug lovers.
