DIY Lavender Candle

It’s crazy to think of the prices that we’ll pay at the store for candles! I decided a very long time ago that I was done paying those high prices and I was just going to make it myself. It’s worked out so far – this candle recipe smells amazing and I’m always getting compliments on it.

What are the benefits of lavender?

Lavender is one of the most popular essential oils for good reason—its benefits are awesome! If you’re looking for a little relaxation, lavender is the perfect scent.

Not only does it have a calming effect, but lavender is also known to relieve stress, headache pain, and insomnia.

One simple way to enjoy lavender oil is by making your own lavender candle. This DIY project is simple and only requires a few supplies which is why it’s a great activity to get started on right away.

Supplies:

You’ll just need the following supplies below to get started! If you’re planning on making a lot of candles, having these supplies on hand is a great idea.

Note: You can buy this candle making kit that has most of the supplies, except for the lavender buds and essential oil.

How to make a lavender candle

  1. Put the soy wax flakes inside the melting pot, and set that inside a shallow saucepan with ½ inch of water.

2. Melt the wax over low heat while stirring often.

3. While melting, attach a glue dot to the bottom of each 4 oz. jar, then press the wick into it.

4. Set the center device on top of the jar, over the wick, then push the wick into the slot.

5. Remove the melted wax from heat then add essential oil. Stir well.

6. Pour the wax into the candle jars and let sit for 20 minutes or so. Add the lavender buds.

7. Let the candles be fully set and undisturbed for about 12 hours.

8. Trim the wick to the top of the center device with scissors once the candles are set.

9. Voila! Your lavender candle is now ready!

Does a candle ever start to lose its scent?

Yes, actually, they can start to lose some of their scents! If you don’t keep the lid on them or light them, they’ll start to get old and lose some of their scents. They don’t lose it all the way, but it will decrease.

Lovely aormatherapy candle that produces feelings of warmth and calm.

Materials

  • 200 grams, or 7 ounces of soy wax flakes (2 bags if using the kit)
  • Melting pot
  • Mixing spoon
  • Shallow saucepan filled with ½ inch of water
  • 30 drops lavender essential oil
  • 2 pcs. 4oz jars
  • 2 Cotton wick
  • 2 Glue dot
  • 2 Center device
  • ½ tsp dried lavender buds

Instructions
