*I’m a mom with a household budget and a decade’s worth of budget-crushing techniques to share!  But I’m not a financial expert or advisor – These tips and budget printables helped my household get our money under control, and I hope they work for you too!

This year’s bundle has TWO cover options for your binder, and SIX worksheets:

  • Money Goals Worksheet;
  • Budget Planner Worksheet;
  • Payday Monthly Bills Organizer, for those of us who pay their bills each pay day (it’s life-changing!);
  • Recurring Monthly Bills Organizer, for those who prefer to make each payment on the day it’s due instead;
  • Day-to-Day Expenses Tracker, to track your shopping habits (there are 2 versions of this one, one for people who (like me) don’t shop very much and only need one sheet, and a second for tracking each category if you’re a more frequent shopper and one sheet won’t do); and
  • Goals Tracker! My personal favorite, I LOVE filling these out with every payment, watching my debt melt away, or my savings pile up!

Why you need a Budget (and why you need these Budget Worksheets):

Long story short, because wondering where your money went every month sucks.

You get anxious around the last week of every month,

You feel like you need to hide your spending from your partner or family, even though when you are doing the actual shopping you have no worries about the amount you are spending,

and/or you don’t at least have a rough estimate of how much you spend on variable things each month (groceries, gas, entertainment, gifts, etc.).

Plus, all that worry is an unnecessary burden on both you AND your partner:

According to a 2017 study by Ramsey Solutions (think Dave Ramsey), the more debt a married couple has, the more likely (and often) they fight about money.

But that’s not going to be you! You found me & we are going to get through this together.  Let’s simplify your budget and get you on track to Financial Freedom:

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.25″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″ custom_padding=”|||” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

**BTW, if you are a total noob with money, I HIGHLY recommend a book called The Index Card, by Helaine Olen & Harold Pollack.

This book really helped me see my “big picture” financially.  It has simple, straightforward advice about what people need for basic financial security.  It all really does fit on an index card, couldn’t be simpler.**

How to use these Budget Printables:

I absolutely love these Budgeting Worksheets and here’s why: You are now managing your money and telling it where to go to work for YOU and reach your GOALS (positive!!).

No more watching it drain from your accounts and wallet, racking up unnecessary late fees & adding to your debt (negative BOO!!).

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

Money Goals Worksheet

First thing’s first: You will fill out your GOALS – What big-ticket items are you hoping to settle this year?

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://livinglifeasmoms.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Money-Goals-Budget-Binder-Printable.jpg” align=”center” align_tablet=”center” align_phone=”” align_last_edited=”on|desktop” _builder_version=”4.0.7″ border_radii=”on|40px|40px|40px|40px”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

“You can’t hit a target if you don’t know what it is.” – Tony Robbins

Print 4 of these out for the year.  This goals sheet is going to be reviewed every 3 months, to account for any new amaze-balls developments in your life (pregnancy anyone? Maybe you got a raise? Anybody want to go back to school, or start? Just started a living-on-one-income adventure?)

Change happens, and good or bad, it can throw your whole budget out of whack.

More money coming in means more that can be thrown at your student loans or vacation fund.  Less money coming in means the pie is going to have to be cut a little differently, so your food and electricity bill slice stays the same.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.22.7″ min_height=”5919px”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.25″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″ custom_padding=”|||” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

Budget Planner Worksheet

The column on the left is for the beginning of each month.  Estimate how much you will spend in each category:

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://livinglifeasmoms.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Monthly-Budget-Binders-Printable.jpg” align=”center” align_tablet=”center” align_phone=”” align_last_edited=”on|desktop” _builder_version=”4.0.7″ border_radii=”on|40px|40px|40px|40px”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

At the end of each month, add up your fixed expenses and shopping from the rest of the worksheets, and put the totals in the column on the right.

Now it’s easy to see if your household budget (which is an estimate) matches up with your actual spending!  It’s very easy to find the leaks this way.

**TIP** The only way to get good estimates for the column on the left is to go through your bank records for the past 3 months.

If that feels too overwhelming to you, the Mint app is a free spending tracker that will categorize your spending for you.

HOWEVER, I’ve been using it for 4 months and there have been a lot of times when the app duplicated transactions, making the totals for each category inaccurate.  It’s also sometimes difficult to delete the duplicated ones, depending on what updates Mint has going on.

If you really want to just get the estimating part over with, I would go with the Mint app, since it’s free and you just need an estimate anyway.  Just skim through the transactions by category to make sure there aren’t any glaring errors.

But, a good ol’ pencil & paper, just this one time, is best.  Besides, once you use the worksheets for 3 months, all the numbers you need for estimating your future budget will be right in front of you.

Monthly Fixed Expenses Worksheets

So I have a whole blog post on just this topic because I believe so much in paying my bills by PAYDAY instead of on or around the date each bill is due.  It is just TOO MUCH WORK.  It fills up my calendar, making it look messy (and totally NOT streamlined.  Busy + Messy = I’m not a happy camper).

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://livinglifeasmoms.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Bills-Organization-by-Payday-Budget-Printables.jpg” align=”center” align_tablet=”center” align_phone=”” align_last_edited=”on|desktop” _builder_version=”4.0.7″ border_radii=”on|40px|40px|40px|40px”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.25″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″ custom_padding=”|||” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

Buuuuuut I know some of you are not on that bandwagon.  Or maybe your income is just SO irregular that it doesn’t make sense to plan by payday.  I didn’t forget you!  I have a template for you too!

Sorry, NOBODY gets a free pass lol:

Day-to-Day Expenses Worksheet Tracker

I think this one is the most important.  It’s usually the one we can look to if the money is too tight and we need to cut some corners.

I have a few here to choose from:

Some people don’t shop very much (me) and so all I really need for the month is 1-2 sheets that look like this:

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://livinglifeasmoms.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Day-to-Day-Expenses-Budget-Binder-Printable.jpg” align=”center” align_tablet=”center” align_phone=”” align_last_edited=”on|desktop” _builder_version=”4.0.7″ border_radii=”on|40px|40px|40px|40px”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

This worksheet has one column for the date & where I shopped, and then a few columns for each type of expense. (stuff like food, restaurant, cleaning stuff, clothes, gifts, car maintenance)

I just keep a literal running list of each time I go to a store, and I put the amount I paid into the appropriate column.

So, if I go grocery shopping, I write the date, name of the store, and then I put the amount I paid into the box under the “food” column.

At the end of the month I just add up each column to see how much I spent for each category.

Some of us shop a lot more frequently.  In that case, you may want one sheet for 1-2 types of expense, like this:

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://livinglifeasmoms.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Variable-Expenses-Budget-Binder-Printables.jpg” align=”center” align_tablet=”center” align_phone=”” align_last_edited=”on|desktop” _builder_version=”4.0.7″ border_radii=”on|40px|40px|40px|40px”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

Each sheet can be for its own type of expense, like:

  • Groceries
  • Toiletries
  • Housewares
  • Gifts
  • Restaurants
  • Clothing
  • Car Maintenance
  • Kids stuff (toys, babysitting, etc)

I’m going to say this with love:

If you need an entire sheet of paper to track all the times you are shopping for one category of stuff, you are probably overspending.  Try to at least cut down the number of trips to the store and see if that has an impact on the month’s total.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.7.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

**BTW, if you do a lot of shopping online, you absolutely MUST sign up for a money saving app.  You are throwing free money away if you dont use one.

I love 2 of them:

1 – Ebates – Ebates has an app, website AND Google Chrome extension.  SO wherever you are shopping from online, you can use Ebates for cash back.  Ebates works at a TON of popular stores like Macys, Walmart, Ebay, Sephora, Kohls, and (sometimes) Amazon (“eyeroll”).

It’s totally free – when you sign up through my link you get extra cash back as a thank you after you make your first purchase! The cash back can be anywhere from $10 to even $40 with your first purchase!  Can’t beat it.

2 – Honey – This one is more of a “desktop” Google-Chrome extension, but it is super easy to use.  You just download the Chrome extension and whenever you shop online, Honey automatically searches the entire internet for available coupon codes.  You can save on literally any purchase from a store’s website that has active coupon codes – from Bed Bath & Beyond to Doordash.  No more signing up for every single coupon code site out there.

It’s also free! Check it out & sign up through my link.  You also get rewards points, redeemable for gift cards to your favorite stores.

Debt Repayment Tracker/Savings Goals Tracker Worksheet

If you are paying off debt, or saving for a big expense, this one’s for you!

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://livinglifeasmoms.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Goals-Trackers-Budget-Binder-Printables.jpg” align=”center” align_tablet=”center” align_phone=”” align_last_edited=”on|desktop” _builder_version=”4.0.7″ border_radii=”on|40px|40px|40px|40px”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

This year we are actually in some credit card debt.  Here’s my post all about it, if you want to budget with me to pay off some credit card debt together!

While we are crawling out of that major hole, I’m all about my filling-up-the-jar worksheets every time I make a payment.  Seeing the thermometers heating up, even little by little, gives me a boost to cut even more spending to fill them in faster.

I also like to use these for savings goals.  It could be a vacation, or the holidays coming up, little by little I get prepared for that big expense, instead of having to drain my account and refill it afterwards.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

When you’re all done with the year, you can take the papers out of your binder, staple them together, and keep them to compare with next year’s goals.

You’ll see firsthand how much more responsible you are with spending wisely!

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.0.7″ text_font=”Georgia||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”19px” ul_font_size=”20px” ul_line_height=”1.7em” ol_font_size=”20px” ol_line_height=”1.7em” header_font=”Georgia||||||||” header_2_font=”Georgia|700|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#cc1c9a” header_2_font_size=”30px” header_2_line_height=”1.7em” header_3_font=”Georgia||||||||”]

& dont forget to grab The Index Card, by Helaine Olen & Harold Pollack, it’s also really helpful!
