Not So Green Smoothie Recipe
Why do you ask if I’d want to drink a not so green smoothie? Because I find too much green to be overpowering and while I want to be healthy, I’m okay with being only a bit healthy and still enjoying my drink.
When I’m craving something sweet or find myself in the afternoon sugar craving, I get out my Braun blender and see what I can come up with that will get rid of my cravings.
The fruit are all amazing choices and the berries are full of anti-oxidants but they’re naturally sweet. For this sweet tooth, that’s enough for me to add it to my smoothy, I like to add a whole banana because I like the creamy texture that it brings.
I always have spinach on hand but it can get repetitive to eat it stir fried every day. I want the iron but not always feel like cooking it up or making a salad. I add the orange juice because vitamin C helps your body absorb the iron from the spinach.
Not So Green Smoothy Ingredients
- Braun Puremix Blender
- 1 cup of spinach
- Blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries
- 1 banana
- Orange Juice
- Water
I add everything into the blender cup, I then add half of the orange juice and half water and then hit liquefy on the blender and I get one delicious tasting smoothy.
I had added more spinach and saw that it was greener than what was pictured here and when I tasted it, it tasted more bitter than I liked so I added more berries, woot, problem solved. If I have avocado on hand I’ll add it in, it makes it less sweet tasting but is really filling. It’s great for when I’m craving junk food.
I like that the blender can make smaller portions, I find myself using the cups rather than the full blender because I only need a single serving of smoothy. The quick clean up makes it easy to clean up which means I pull it out more often.
While my smoothy doesn’t have the best colors, it sure tastes heavenly, especially since I know it’s good for me.
