Easy Mummy Sugar Cookies Ingredients
To get started, you’ll need to gather up the following ingredients and have them on hand!
- ½ cup of unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour + extra for rolling
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ cups white candy melts
- 2 ounces of white rolling fondant
- 1 black edible marker pen
- 1 gingerbread man cookie cutter (about 3 inches long and 2 inches wide)
How to make Mummy Sugar Cookies
Start by beating together the butter and sugar in a large bowl.
Once that is mixed well, you’re going to want to add in the egg and vanilla. Mix them well, too.
Using a different bowl, take and sift the flour, salt, and baking soda.
After you’ve sifted, add the dry ingredients slowly into the bowl of wet ingredients. Mix well. This will be your cookie dough.
Once the dough has formed, take and wrap it in plastic and have it in the fridge chilling for at least one hour of time.
After that time has passed, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Don’t forget to line the cookie sheet with parchment paper so that the cookies don’t stick!
Put a little bit of flour out onto your clean surface and roll out the dough. It should be about 1/4 of an inch thick.
Once the dough is rolled out, take and cut our 12 shapes with the cookie cutter. Once they are cut out, put them on the cookie sheet.
Pop them in the oven and cook them for about 6-7 minutes or until the edges are browning.
Let the cookies cool before decorating!
While they are cooling, you’ll want to take and roll out the white fondant about 1/3 inch thick.
Take and use the tip of the Wilton #12 tip and cut it into 48 circles.
Pu a dot on each circle to look like eyes, using the edible marker pen.
Put candy melts and the coconut oil into a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals until melted. Stir in between.
Once melted, put the candy into the piping bag and cut a small slit at the end.
Drizzle the melted candy on the cookie. This will make them looked “wrapped” like mummies!
Add on the two fondant eyes and let set. Enjoy each bite!
