Ideas for Spider Themed Snacks

When we learn about spiders or any other creepy crawlies, my kids are always fascinated. We found some Black Widows in our garage when we moved here and it was quite the event!

So I love to expand our studies with fun hands-on ideas. In this post, we share a list of spider themed snacks and we also show you one of the snacks we made. These ideas can be used anytime or they can be made into Halloween spider snacks as well.

Need some ideas for spider themed snacks? Your kids will love these spider doughnuts, they're adorably cute and tasty - a must-try snack for kids.

Spider Themed Snacks Ingredients

Spider Themed Snacks

This is a fun and easy snack. In fact, it is actually a spider snack for preschool kids and older. If you make this with toddlers, be sure to keep an eye on them the entire time, especially if you are using the edible eyes because they can be a choking hazard. Alright! Let’s get started! Once you have all of the ingredients, then you are ready to start.

1  Give each child a donut and put some frosting on the top of it, if you choose to use frosting. I like this better with the frosting because it highlights the spider legs, but a regular donut without frosting will do just fine. I don’t feel as bad about using frosting every once in a while, especially because we use an organic one with coconut oil.

2  Sprinkle some sprinkles on the frosting before the frosting hardens. Whether you picked regular sprinkles, Fall-colored sprinkles or Halloween-colored sprinkles, they will give the snack a “sprinkle” of color (pun intended) and you can even tell the kids to pretend they are bug that the spider caught.

3  Take a donut hole and put two dots of the black gel frosting and use them as the glue to put the eyes on it. Those will be the spider eyes. Want it to be more fun? Use more eyes because many spiders have many eyes.

4  Use the black gel frosting to make a mouth (I like a happy spider, so I make a smile, but you can have fun with it) and place the donut hole literally on the hole on the donut. Hahahaha!

5  Use the black gel writing frosting to make the spider’s eight legs. Make four on each side. You will make them like the picture above, on the donut itself.

Now you have a fantastic spider themed snack! Doesn’t it look awesome?! Well, keep reading because you will get a fantastic list of more spider themed snacks!
