Snowman White Hot Chocolate Recipe
The chilly weather is here and hot drinks are simply a must-have! There are many wonderful hot drinks out there, but, to be completely honest with you, hot chocolate is my top favorite.
The taste, the texture and the fond childhood memories that flood my mind make my moment a perfect one. Every sip gets better and better…well, except for the last one! In this post, we share a way to decorate your yummy snowman white hot chocolate. We made a snowman decoration idea that will make your hot drink even more delicious!
I love it when you come inside from a cold winter day to have hot chocolate. While that can start to lose its appeal, why not change things up and try white hot chocolate to broaden your child’s taste buds.
Although, I doubt they need much help when it comes to chocolate. I like carrying it in a thermos when we head out to toboggan because it quickly warms them up and then they can get back to having fun on the hill.
The fun of having hot chocolate at home is that you get to add whatever toppings you like. While whipped cream and marshmallows are always at the top of the list. Adding cinnamon, chocolate sauce and sprinkles are always a fun option for the kids.

Snowman Hot Chocolate
Is there anything better than a giant cup of hot chocolate? When the weather starts to get a bit chilly, homemade hot chocolate is always the best. The kids are going to love sipping away at this simple drink after they help make it, of course!
Or if you want to be a really cool mom you can easily whip it up ahead of time so that it’s ready for them to sip and drink right away. There really is no long way to make hot chocolate – so just make it! The kids will love having it ready and waiting or even join in on the fun, too!
Snowman Hot Chocolate Supplies
All you need to make this homemade hot chocolate are the simple ingredients listed below. Gather up the ingredients needed before starting the recipe so that you’re not missing anything at all.
- 1/2 cup of white chocolate wafers
- 4 cups Milk
- Whipped Cream (I used the one from Gay Lea)
- Marshmallows
- 1 small chunk of Chocolate
- Mini Reese’s Pieces
- Pretzel Sticks
Hot Chocolate Instructions
Place the milk and chocolate in a small saucepan, simmer on low to medium-high while stirring with a whisk. Do not let it boil. This will slowly melt the chocolate and create a heavenly hot beverage.
I placed the hot chocolate into a cup, top it with whip cream. Although that alone right there would have been perfect for me. My kids wanted to get a bit more creative with their marshmallows.
So we decided to make a snowman. Add in the marshmallow head on top of the whipped cream, I heated a small chunk of chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds. I used a chopstick to paint on the snowman’s face.
I added whip cream to the back of the mini Reese’s piece to make his nose and added two pretzel arms. And voila! There you have it, a delicious warm drink for the whole family.
Keep in mind that the kids might have different ideas on what they’re wanting to put as toppings on their drink. That’s totally fine! It’s entirely up to them! They can put nothing on it if they want, but I highly doubt that it’s the case!
The more toppings on this simple hot chocolate recipe, the better! Every sip of hot chocolate is wonderful and so worth it!
We even have a toppings bar set up for the kids to pick and choose what they want to add! This keeps it super fun for them and gives them options to change up the taste and flavor with every cup.
We also like to all add different toppings and then share a few sips, too. This is a simple way for us to sample other toppings without having to fully commit.
Tips for Making Hot Chocolate
Making homemade hot chocolate isn’t hard but there are a few tips that you’re going to want to keep in mind. Make sure that you read through the directions fully so that you don’t miss out on a step.
Every step in the recipe is important to getting that sweet and creamy flavor. I can promise you that this homemade hot cocoa recipe is going to be better than anything that the kids can get out of a pouch from the store!
Even though there might be several steps, the end result is creamy hot chocolate that will have everyone drinking to the last drop. In fact, it’s safe to say that once you make hot chocolate this way, there will never be store-bought happening again in your house.
Make sure that the kids understand that their cup of hot cocoa is going to be very hot! So many times kids will rush to drink it and end up getting burnt on the mouth. If they want it to cool down quicker, I always add in an ice cube or two to do the trick. This helps with the heat and cools it down faster which is great when the kids don’t want to be that patient.
